Dojo Kun - Dojo Code - A history and the meaning of.
JKA Tiger - Shotokan
The Dojo Kun
The Dojo Kun was developed by five masters of JKA which every karate-ka commits to memory and strives to attain. We not only strive to achieve these in the dojo, but also outside in the rest of our lives. Below is both the Original japanese version with direct translation and the english version which translates and applies meaning to them. The english version is predominantly used in dojo's in english speaking countries. At Sasori and Fukuoka we use the Japanese version to keep authenticity of the true meaning. In the Japanese version 'hitotsu' is said before each code is recited. Hitotsu means 'one' Is said before each one to show that all are of equal importance and that none come before or after each other.
